I am setting up this Blog for a computer class I am taking at Truckee Meadows Community College. This is my first Blog of any kind, I hadn't even read one until the other day when I signed up. I went and looked at quite a few of them to get an idea of what they are all about.
I have decided that it would be fun to use this not only for my requirements but to journal about returning to college after 22 years.
For the last several years I have been wanting to end my career as a food and beverage director but wasn't sure what new career field I would like to enter. I realized that it should be in a field I love and enjoy.
While I have many interests, I have loved computers since I took my first computer course in 1975 at Reedley High School. I had taught myself HTML about 12 years ago and had a website called "All Things Bogart" It was a lot of fun and I had it up for about 5 years when my ex-husband became ill. It became too difficult to work, take care of him and my two sons and still have enough time to keep it fresh and interesting so I gave it up.
At work I was always called in to try to fix the computers before we would call the IT department. I realized that one of my great passions was working on, with and around computers and decided to go for a computer programmers degree. I have done a small amount of programming and find I enjoy that aspect the best. I enrolled at TMCC last spring and on Monday, August 25th began all my classes on line. I spent the day learning to navigate within Web College and making sure I understood this weeks assignments. I am averaging about 4 hours a day between my four classes so far. I do work about 50 hours a week also and hope to become more organized by the end of this week. It hasn't been as difficult as I thought but I still feel highly motivated.
It has been very exciting getting to this point and I look forward to my next two years at TMCC with a lot of anticipation of good things to come.
